There’s no perfect cookie-cutter solution when it comes to branding images. Every business is different and even for two businesses in the same industry, selling similar products, there may be different brand voices to each business, different personalities, and different aesthetics.

So how would you design a branding photoshoot considering all said above?

In this case, getting all creative and playing with looks and setups was easy. Anda is a pastry chef, she is the queen of layered cakes here in Perth. She is truly a romantic and loves a vintage aesthetic. She is also a qualified chef and the face of her own business. Her bite seized cakes are perfect for tea parties but also dainty and artistic.

We decided to go with a few setups both for her portraits and her product imagery. The first one was her choice. It combined her favorite aesthetic, her brand colors, and the fact that her cakes worked so well for a tea party. With pinup-inspired hair, makeup, and outfit plus a table set up as a very lavish high tea. Anda may have dropped a tear or two when coming into the room and seeing the table setup. We had a mood board and she brought most of the props for us to use, but couldn’t imagine how beautiful it will turn out in the end.

While we loved the first setup and we knew it will be great both for her social media and her website, showing Anda’s qualification as a pastry chef was equaly important. But we didn’t want formal looking headshots. They wouldn’t have shown her beautiful and fun personality. And we also decided to use her brand pink in these portraits.

We loved how the portraits were turning out and how the colours looked. So we decided to keep the setup for some action images that show Anda at work. These kinds of images are great for showing a glimpse behind the scenes when the most beautiful cakes in Perth are created. They are also a great way for the brand to tell int’s story and show the great amount of attention to detail and passion Anda invests in each and every little cake.

The third setup was very special as it brought a fine art touch to the images. Anda’s hero product is a beautiful cake with a rich history. Using a historic recipe, Anda made a Dobos Torta which would impress just with its looks. That is until you taste it. Rich and decadent, not too sweet, not too chocolaty. Simply perfect. This cake is a piece of art and it surely deserved images that would showcase it deservingly.

Lastly, each cake needed to be photographed for the menu, brochures, website and some more social media content. So we did just that. Some images were styled as you saw above. Some were very simple on a white background, the best presentation for the online store and the printed menus.
